Super Bowl

Last night something totally unexpected happened, something that I did not see coming nor would I believe would ever happen. I had legally had 2 beers in Iraq!!! Yep for the Super Bowl they let everyone have 2 beers during the game.
All the happy faces, except for Ben s he gets grummpy when you tell him he can only have 2
Who would have thought... but they had an Army dude get a DUI so I bet this is the last beer we will see here for a LOOOOONG time.

The day started out with us flying to Qatar and then trying to race back in time for our beers. We tried to takeoff early but were delayed because of a weather recall for the “fast movers”. Once we got airborne we enjoyed the tail wind and landed 30 minutes early. On the ground we had to reconfigure the back of the plane so we could take some pallets back and that took about an extra 30 minutes so we were back on time. We had gassed up so that we would not need any gas for the flight home so that saved us an hour and we were heading home.

The tail wind we enjoyed the first half of the mission became a head wind but in all we landed about 50 minutes early and it was now half time so we had to rush to get to the game.

We got everything done and then walked in the door where we traded our IDs for an ice cold beverage =) It was funny because the lady that handed us our beers said we better drink fast because this as last call and if you want a second beer the first one has to be gone. I am not one for arguing with ladies so down the hatch the firs beer went and it was time for a second.

By the time we got there the choices were dwindling but I managed to have a Miller Light but earlier they had Guinness so I felt a little cheated but I didn’t cry about it. I just enjoyed my two beers as we watched the Cardinals try and comeback. It was a good 4th quarter and it felt pretty cool to be having a beer after a good flight. The game ended and it was 0600 here and now I had been up for 23 hours so I promptly headed to bed.

I got up at around 1100, yea after only 4.5~5 hours of sleep and sat out in front of my pod trying to catch some sun. I know it’s a long shot but I figure if I am going to the beach in the beginning of March it would be nice not to glow in the dark.

The rest of the day was spend being lazy and chatting with friends, this is my 3rd day off from the gym since I got here, I am pooped and felt I could relax for a day. I am also waiting on the internet to come back, our guys are installing new stuff to make it faster and wireless so we’ll see what happens.

Well I’ll post this when I can, have a great week and I will see you guys soon. Aloha!
