Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th!!! Well today has been a nice relaxing day, I got up at 0930 and hit the gym for a little bit then we had a meeting at the squadron where my crew won the most hauled for the month (109 Tons). Now I am back at the room waiting or dinner.

Yesterday we flew to Qutar and I got to see my squadron commander from home who is now in command of a C-130 unit over here in the land of sand and heat. It was a nice flight and a change of pace. We have been doing so many short hops that the 3 hours flight was a nice change in pace. The air conditioner could actually cool the plane down and I got to just sit and relax a little bit. The one that that you can’t do is relax too much.

We found that on the 3rd, yes our flight was when they decided to change up some of the airways in and around Iraq. So that was a surprise as I am used to flying the same airways for literally years now and then they cleared me to a point that I had never heard of. So we got out the new updated charts and found that everything was different. The C-130 does not have an FMS (fancy computer that knows everything) so we had to fly via a chart and VORs, not that much of a change but it is nice when the plane know where it is going witch today it did not.
After we got back from the flight I spend some quality time at the pool and then crashed early as I was up for about 20 hours and that was enough for me.

Now I am looking forward to Explosive Ordinance Disposal to “blow up” a few things tonight for the 4th, I am told that I will defiantly feel the “boom” =)

Oh and thanks E for the cookies, the dudes loved them, yes that is passed tense as they did not last long, I have one bag left in my room for me but I shared with all my dudes and dudettes.

The fireworks were pretty awesome, not the biggest explosions I have felt but pretty big… OK well it’s movie time on our projector, have a great July 4th and I’ll chat later.

OK movie over, we watched Super Bad. It would be nice if it was a little cooler outside, say anything less than 90 degrees would be nice. OK bed time, night.
