Made it home

I just woke up or a wonderful 12 hours of rest =) I flew for a second day in a row and it was a long day that did not get much stuff done. The weather was bad at my first 2 stops so I skipped ahead and landed at Baghdad and was told to get back on my scheduled time frame i.e. wait around for 3.5 hours.

See my loads do work!

We decided this would be a perfect opportunity to go see the tower where my Engineer used to work but that turned into a bit of an ordeal because of the security issues of there being Iraqi controllers in the tower. So we skipped the tower tour and had a great lunch =)

The neat thing was we ran into Dan the other pilot from Cheyenne in the chow hall. He is in Baghdad for the week helping out with the investigation of the C-130 that made that off field landing. He was having fun and enjoying the food as much as we were. I am sure it’s all the same but getting to eat somewhere else is always a little exciting.

When we returned to the plane to leave we found that the #3 eng would not start =( after a lot of banging on it and pulling circuit breakers we were unsuccessful and had to call in the big boys for help. It took about 6 hours to get the parts and everything put back together but we did eventually make it back home last night after a LONG day for only traveling 40 miles away.

Ok now for the odd things that I am learning. Even at 0500 in the morning the water coming out of the cold water for the shower is too hot, I mean that that the water retains the heat from the day before as it sits in the tanks outside and is still way too hot, someone needs to fix that! Also that shampoo and liquid soap get really runny above 110 degrees, just runs through your fingers and harder to get it where you want to use it. Bar soap gets soft to the touch as well, don’t press too hard or your fingers will go right threw it. Just some observations that I thought you all might enjoy.

Oh Dad thanks for the treats, I got them today and will watch the video when I have some down time.

Aloha!
