Combat Airdrop!

OK now I can tell you about my mission, I did my first combat airdrop in Iraq today!!! It was awesome, we had to deliver 4 CDS bundles of water and MREs to an airbase that was less than 20 miles from the Iran boarder. The food was for the Iraqi Army as we are trying to help them out and really show the bad dudes that we are everywhere.

This town is not one of the friendliest places on earth so we had some F-16’s flying above us with their weapons locked on anyone that looked at us funny. We were told that we were the first airdrop in Iraq in 2008, pretty cool, but that also meant we had a lot of eyes on us. We flew with combat camera and a few Colonels that wanted to watch.

Everything went off as planed and the goods were delivered safely on time and on target. I wish I had pictures and video for you but the video camera that the crew had set up, well had its lens cover on =( I saw the footage from the F-16s and that was cool but I can’t post that on here.
So I have now done a combat airdrop and things are back to normal. I woke up way late today, 1500 but then again I didn’t go to sleep till 0430 so I guess that is to be expected.

I took this picture around 1600 when the thermometer was not in direct sun light, nice huh.

Till next time, Aloha.
